Rep. Liz Pike encourages young women to submit essays for scholarship contest

Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, would like to pass along important scholarship information to young women in high school in the 18th Legislative District. The National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL), in partnership with the National Rifle Association (NRA), has announced the 16th Annual NFWL/NRA Bill of Rights Essay Scholarship Contest. Each year, the NFWL and NRA join forces to award six female high school juniors and seniors a $3,000 college scholarship and an all-expense-paid trip to NFWL’s Annual Conference. The conference will take place November 20-22 at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C.

An application for the contest can be found here or http://www.womenlegislators.org/library/NFWL_NRA_2013_Essay_Contest_Application_Packet.pdf. The deadline is September 15. Rep. Pike encourages young women to take advantage of the opportunity. If a student or parent is interested in the contest, they can contact Rep. Pike’s legislative district office at liz.pike@leg.wa.gov or (360) 210-4117.
