Rep. Liz Pike hosts ‘Transportation Solutions’ Town Hall meeting, Sept. 9
The third in a series of “Transportation Solutions” Town Hall meetings will be hosted Sept. 9 in Vancouver by 18th District State Rep. Liz Pike to hear from citizens about local transportation issues and concerns.
“An efficient transportation system is the cornerstone of a vibrant economy. We need solutions that will reduce traffic congestion for Clark County commuters,” said Pike, R-Camas. “The most important thing we can do right now is engage with citizens on this pressing issue.”
The public forum will be held at Washington State University-Vancouver from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Lecture Hall of the Dengerink Administration Building 110, 14204 NE Salmon Creek Ave., in Vancouver.
“Local congestion is costing our economy millions of dollars in lost time and wages, not to mention precious time spent away from family. The longer we wait to take action, the worse it gets. Freight can’t wait, so we must improve conditions for our freight haulers to keep goods moving to their intended destinations without delay,” added Pike.
During Pike’s Transportation Solutions Town Hall meetings in February and May, several presenters offered new cross-river solutions for the creation of new North-South corridors in addition to the Interstate 5 bridge between Vancouver and Portland. Presenters during the upcoming event will include Linda Figg of Figg Bridge and Clark County business owner Bill Wagner. A short question and answer period will follow each presentation. The last hour of the forum is reserved for public comment. Constituents who wish not to testify may submit their comments in writing.
“Whatever path we choose must be acceptable by our citizens who will ultimately be footing the bill. These town hall meetings are all about presenting several solutions and then, most importantly, hearing from the people,” said Pike.
